Aesthetics.

Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy that focuses on the nature of appeal, beauty, and taste. It observes how and why people find appeal and satisfaction in certain forms of art and such. It tries to find answers to why people take interest or has a taste for certain pieces of art. A thing that could help find the answer is the Aesthetic-Usability effect. It states that whatever looks good, the user thinks that it will work good. Us, people, will assume that good looking things will work good, and will assume that bad looking things will work bad. This may because we are used to objects that work in perfect condition with pretty designs, and that worn-down objects are probably old and has been used mulitple times, thus making us assume that it does not work well.
